White-Spunner Construction has completed construction of the new City of Foley Community Library, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the City of Foley on Aug. 4.

White-Spunner Construction served as general contractor on the two-story, 40,664-square-foot facility, designed by Williams Blackstock Architects to be nearly double the size of the former library and serve as both a public library and a community gathering space. The nearly $20.5 million project was completed on schedule and under budget, includes an expanded children’s area, a dedicated teen space, computer labs, study rooms and a STEAM lab, along with dedicated space for special-needs programs and a multipurpose room housing a 354-square-foot stage and telescopic seating that sits up to 277 for community events and public gatherings.

This Library will serve generations of Foley residents who haven’t even walked through its doors yet.”

As a gesture of thanks for the City of Foley and the community’s support throughout the project, White-Spunner Construction donated a collection of children’s books to help fill the library’s new shelves as it opens its doors to the public.
