White-Spunner Construction Headquarters
Project Overview
White-Spunner Construction’s flagship LEED project was our own corporate headquarters, which received Silver-level certification from the USGBC and became the first LEED certified building in South Alabama. The 40,000 square-foot, 2-story building features an open floor plan with large tinted windows and numerous skylights, heat-sensitive lighting and water-efficient systems. LEED features incorporated into the building have reduced water consumption and increased ventilation by 40 percent, reduced energy consumption by 28 percent, and optimized energy performance by 35 percent. Other green features include zero light pollution, water-efficient landscaping, use of low, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and certified woods, storage and collection of recycled material, indoor air quality control, and lighting control systems. About 70 percent recycled content was used during construction of this innovative office building.
