National Bank of Commerce

Project Overview

White-Spunner Construction completed this coastal NBC branch in just seven months. At 5,900 square feet, the bank showcases numerous elements designed to complement historic buildings in downtown Fairhope. Its exterior facade features rough brick with mortar joints that were left unraked. The hardscape was designed to protect and preserve the large existing Magnolia and live Oak trees by using underground rain retention, pervious concrete and pervious pavers within the drives and sidewalks. As a Tree City, Fairhope emphasizes natural foliage, and NBC’s landscaping was designed to exceed the city’s expectations. Large Magnolias, Pond Cypress and running ground cover were used to create a lush, natural setting. The bank’s interior finishes also contribute to its historic aesthetic, including slate flooring with mosaic accent tiles at the entrance. Throughout the building, 11-foot ceilings are mixed with revealed-edge acoustical tiles and 1×6 wood v-groove with crown molding in the lobby, foyer and conference rooms.
