In 1996, the City of Mobile faced significant challenges in constructing Hank Aaron Stadium, a 6,000-seat baseball park named after the legendary Mobile native, Hank Aaron. The project was over budget by $4 million and constrained by an unchangeable seven-month deadline. To address these issues, the city enlisted White-Spunner Construction.
Our team immediately implemented value engineering and redesign strategies to reduce costs without compromising quality. These efforts ensured the stadium was completed within the original budget and opened on schedule on April 17, 1997. The facility featured unique field-level luxury suites, elevating the infield seating for the general public by approximately 20 feet. Hank Aaron Stadium became the home of the Mobile BayBears, a minor league baseball team, from 1997 until their relocation in 2019.
