Downtown Air Center

Project Overview

White-Spunner Construction provided design-build services for construction of the Downtown Air Center, located at Brookley Field in Mobile. The state-of-the-art clear span aircraft hangars were designed to withstand 140-mph winds with 24-foot eve height. The 140’x124’ facility had a 12-foot lean-to on the building front for office space with several egress points. The 100’x20’ bypass hangar door was also designed with a tail door and automatic door openers to allow large aircrafts to access with ease and safety. The floor of the hangar was coated with four coats of epoxy coating, creating a top-level appearance and ability to be cleaned immaculately. The Downtown Air Center provides fueling operations for FedEx, Mobile Aerospace, and the Airbus Center of Excellence. It is also a DESC approved location.
