Project Overview

Merchants National Bank was built in 1928. This historic skyscraper has Neoclassical elements along the street, and the upper stories of the building are stepped. At 18 stories, It is now considered the fourth tallest building in Mobile, AL. As a vibrant residential, office, retail, and commercial anchor in Mobile’s revitalized downtown area, Merchants Plaza is the perfect place for businesses to flourish in a central location that connects historic charm with marketplace success. The structure houses 80 upscale apartments offering studio, one and two-bedroom floor plans as well as penthouse units.

This building is capped with a pyramidal metal roof, and the light and dark bricks show the Deco influence. The complete gut of interiors included all new sprinklers, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. The plaza also features a new gym and amenity area for the residents and connecting office buildings. Parking is available in the connecting parking garage.
